BS Climate System Science

The Bachelor of Science in Climate System Science, offered by the Jackson School of Geosciences, prepares students to tackle the global climate crisis with a deep technical understanding of Earth's climate system. This program combines physics, chemistry, mathematics, and Earth science to study climate behavior, its long-term drivers, and its wide-reaching impacts. Students use geologic records, satellite data, and advanced climate models to analyze trends such as rising sea levels, warming temperatures, and extreme weather events. The curriculum equips graduates with skills to forecast climate change, evaluate societal and environmental impacts, and inform climate policy and sustainable decision-making across science, government, and industry sectors.

Job Titles & Career Information

The BS in Climate System Science prepares students for a wide range of careers at the intersection of science, policy, and sustainability. With its strong quantitative foundation and interdisciplinary training, graduates are equipped to address complex climate challenges in both public and private sectors. Graduates may pursue roles in climate risk analysis, environmental consulting, government agencies, and continue their studies in graduate programs such as climate science, atmospheric science, oceanography, and glaciology.
